How do you say it in Hebrew?
Weekly Phrase #6
How do you say in Hebrew
"your choice matters!"
and if you want to say the opposite,
"doesn't matter"?
You have expected a catch, did't you? Right, so, actually, there is no word for "it matters"... As usual, let's search for an alternative in English! You could say "it's important" instead - and that's what we will say in Hebrew! זה חשוב!

Examples:
⮞ Your choice matters for us! הבחירה שלך חשובה לנו! (audio #1)
⮞ Your opinion matters for us! דעתך חשובה לנו! (audio #2)
⮞ Not only what you think but also what you say matters! חשוב לא רק מה שאתה אומר, אלא גם מה שאתה חושב! (audio #3)

Interestingly, we do have a special expression for the opposite, for the "doesn't matter" expression! Yes, we still can say לא חשוב, but we can also say לא משנה - which literally means "doesn't change." :)

Examples:
⮞ Doesn't matter what he says, we know that in his heart he agrees. לא משנה מה הוא אומר, אנחנו יודעים שבלב הוא מסכים (audio #4)
⮞ It doesn't matter to him what others think. לא משנה\חשוב לו מה כולם חושבים (audio #5)
⮞ Doesn't matter when, most important is that it will happen. לא משנה\חשוב מתי, העיקר שזה יקרה (audio #6)

And a retro song for you with the expression לא חשוב!
לא חשוב לאן תלך ולא חשוב מה נעשה....
Hope it was interesting!
See you next week,
