Actually, there are two ways to say "become" - both equally valid!

One way - נהיה\נהיתה\נהיו
Here is the sentence above using this word -
⮞ מסכות נהיו חלק מחיי היום יום שלנו \ מסכות נהיו חלק ממציאות היום יום שלנו (audio #1)
Here, as you see, no preposition is needed after נהיו
However, it wouldn't be a mistake if you said נהיה לחלק - just not as common :)

As a general remark - this one, unlike the נהיה above, is more about transformation, -maybe it would be better to translate it as "turned into."
