Shalom my dear students! Did you know that thanks to you, I get so many ideas for new courses, and have so much fun preparing them for you and seeing your Hebrew improve? And you might think, that if I wanted to say "thanks to..." in Hebrew, I would use the word "תודה", right? But actually, we use another word for this! To say "thanks to...", we say "בזכות" - literally - "in the right of..."! It sounds weird in English, doesn't it?
Let's look at a few examples:
⮞ Thanks to my family I am happy - בזכות המשפחה שלי אני שמחה (audio # 1)
⮞ Thanks to the weather we had a wonderful trip - בזכות מזג האוויר היה לנו טיול נהדר (audio #2)
⮞ It's all thanks to luck - זה הכל בזכות המזל (audio #3)
You can also combine "בזכות" with a pronoun, to make sentences like "thanks to him", "thanks to me" etc.
Here is how we would do it:
⮞ The womam found her wallet thanks to us - האישה מצאה את הארנק שלה בזכותנו (audio #4)
⮞ Thanks to you we had a lot of fun - בזכותכם היה לנו המון כיף (audio #5)
⮞ The child was crying, but thanks to him, he stopped - הילד בכה, אבל בזכותו הוא הפסיק (audio #6)
