How to say in Hebrew
"I'm done with\I'm dead…"

2020 has been a difficult year for many of us, hasn't it? But lucky for us, we can use this opportunity to learn a new way to express our feelings about this year in Hebrew!

You probably know the verb לגמור - to finish or end something. Don't you? For example: אני גומרת לבשל והולכת לאכול - I'm finishing cooking and going to eat, or הוא גמר ללמוד - he finished studying. In Hebrew, we can also use this verbs to literally say that we are finished by something! That means, we feel something so strongly, it's like we're finished, we can't take it anymore!

For example:
⮞I am dead tired! - אני גמור מעייפות (literally - I am done from tiredness!) (audio #1)
⮞She is dead hungry - היא גמורה מרעב (She is done from hunger) (audio #2)
⮞We are dead bored - אנחנו גמורים משיעמום (We are done from boredom) (audio #3)

But, you can also use this verb to indicate that you are done or fed-up with something, or simply had enough!

Let's look at a few examples:
⮞I'm done with him - אני גמרתי איתו (audio #4)
⮞This class killed me - השיעור הזה גמר אותי (audio #5)
⮞It's killing me to do this - זה גומר אותי לעשות את זה (audio #6)
So… this year גמרה אותנו, and we're lucky we are almost גומרים איתה! But, at least we have Hebrew, and that will never יגמור אותנו מעייפות או משעמום!

See you soon for another phrase!
